That I can agree with. The focus on winning vs skill development is an issue.
At the girls level, the Dallas area now has the JDL division, which takes pre-ECNL age teams into a league where scores are not kept or reported, and rosters are fairly fluid to allow lots of players to get a shot.

The youth system isn't bad per se, it's more that it isn't as developed and efficient as our European counterparts. We would be far better off if we had early interaction with professional coaches in the pay to play system, but many of those coaches are not that great. There are many ways to make it work until we can figure out the most efficient system.
