The league has really subsidized it in recent years.

hard to do with USSF giving all the money to MLS
Yup 20 something academies is no where near enough for a country our size.
England for example easily have thousands.

FC Dallas Academy for fully rostered players is 100% free I believe. It includes a requirement to move to Frisco and attend whatever Frisco school they happen to be aligned with at the time.
