Bucket of water and malathion. Just dump it in the nest, we never did it at night or anything like that. They would all be dead. Sometimes you have a mound of them at the entrance.
I wouldnt do anything with gas or dish detergent, they make chemicals for killing the things.

If you are going to light a match be careful with gas it can get real bad real quick.
Diesel is my preferred method, find the nest, dump diesel in at night in something that pours quick they are slower but can still get you at night. Then light the diesel and no more problem.
