Not reading that but I know that only people with extremely low IQ read Vox.

Clearly there is genetic differences between people's. Don't believe it, just watch the olympics. It's curious that a lot of dominant Olympic distance runners come out of Ethiopia, and not just Ethiopia, but a specific tribe there. Our differences are not just skin deep and there is no reason to believe all adaptation somehow magically spared the brain. Outside of abuse and malnutrition, intelligence is mostly determined by your genes. Studies back it up and conventional wisdom does too. It's hard not to believe your own lying eyes.

tI'm goingto skip your article and go straight to the Vox article it's referencing.
So this is is apparently what is so problematic according to the Vox article.
I'm going to have to go over this in more detail later because this is nonsense.
So this is is apparently what is so problematic according to the Vox article.
quote:I do take issue with it but for a fundamentally different reason: who cares about the consensus? This is aligned with the evidence, and that's all that matters. So like climate change, consensus is merely a representation of the evidence, but not a valid metric itself.
The consensus, he says, is that IQ exists; that it is extraordinarily important to life outcomes of all sorts; that it is largely heritable; and that we don’t know of any interventions that can improve the part that is not heritable. The consensus also includes the observation that the IQs of black Americans are lower, on average, than that of whites, and — most contentiously — that this and other differences among racial groups is based at least in part in genetics.
quote:I'm going to have to listen to the podcast, but Harris is a neuroscientist, so he should be knowledgeable regarding the subject, and I'm guessing what they mean by the lack of tough questioning really means "didn't ask the questions our uninformed views would like."
Harris belies his self-presentation as a tough-minded skeptic by failing to ask Murray a single challenging question.
quote:Inflammatory conclusion? It's science in search of truth. Whether something is Inflammatory or not is irrelevant to the science itself.
he casually proceeds from a few basic premises to the inflammatory conclusion that IQ differences between groups are likely to be at least partly based on inborn genetic differences.
quote:
We, and many other scientific psychologists, believe the evidence supports a different view of intelligence, heritability, and race.
quote:OK. Now I'm irritated. I have my PhD in psychology, and I've never even met or heard a scientist actually who studied psychology like a science and uses quantitative and objective evidence who has made this argument, or reseach that suggests otherwise.
We believe there is a fairly wide consensus among behavioral scientists in favor of our views
I'm going to have to go over this in more detail later because this is nonsense.
