Last week the Westin cancelled all existing reservations until June 30, 2018. They are also not accepting any new reservations, regardless of date.

Caneel Bay announced this week that they will be closed until at least November 2018.

Those are the only two resorts on the island. Most visitors are either day trippers or rent a house or condo. However, the fact that both resorts will be closed for so long is a sad indicator of the damage and lengthy recovery process.

Jost Van Dyke

This one in particular saddens me. I've spent significant time on Jost and know quite a few people there.

Following Hurricane Irma, most buildings and the infrastructure of Jost Van Dyke were decimated, including most communication channels to the outside.

We have been happy to receive post storm reports that the storm’s survivors were gathering at Foxy’s which turned into a community kitchen and still functions that way. Other restaurants with sealed containers of food such as Soggy Dollar and Hendo’s combined resources bringing these items to Foxy’s.

Jost Van Dyke’s infrastructure is decimated. We are also extremely concerned about the potential threat of Hurricane Maria which is likely to impact Jost Van Dyke and the Virgin Islands over the next few days.

Jost Van Dyke was ravaged almost beyond recognition.
