I don't give two shits what the holiday is named so long as it's a holiday but Columbus wasn't a good person at all.

Most of our "heroes" and people who are credited with doing good things also did some bad things. We are human. We are not Gods.

MLK loved the women but I respect what he peacefully did to bring a needed change. Should we tear down his statues because he was an adulterer who used women?

Celebrating Columbus...well yeah, he did some bad things. But to have an Indigenous Day instead is PC idiocy.

BTW, don't the Progressive's justify their alliance with Islamic Radicalism as in killing Gays and stoning women as, "well it's their culture and we shouldn't judge them."?

Well in Columbus's time, the culture was different. This was also the time Spain was fighting the Islamic invaders and removing them from Iberia.

Did you not read the part where I said he was a tyrant? He was removed as governor and even imprisoned for a period of time.

According to the report, Columbus once punished a man found guilty of stealing corn by having his ears and nose cut off and then selling him into slavery. Testimony recorded in the report claims that Columbus congratulated his brother Bartolomeo on "defending the family" when the latter ordered a woman paraded naked through the streets and then had her tongue cut out for suggesting that Columbus was of lowly birth.[84] The document also describes how Columbus put down native unrest and revolt; he first ordered a brutal crackdown in which many natives were killed and then paraded their dismembered bodies through the streets in an attempt to discourage further rebellion.[85] "Columbus's government was characterised by a form of tyranny," Consuelo Varela, a Spanish historian who has seen the document, told journalists.[84] "Even those who loved him had to admit the atrocities that had taken place.

Him being being an absolute piece of shite has nothing to do with culture.

He did way more than "some" bad things. Once again I couldn't care less what the holiday is called so as long as it's a holiday.

Columbus wasn't an American (obviously) and wasnt the first to discover America either. Why do we need a federal holiday commemorating him again? It's a holiday for a foreigner whose reputed achievement is dubious at best. leaving aside whatever his crimes were, it's just asinine to have a day for him.
