There is no beauty in that plan, even if basketball gets huge it is a drop in the bucket compared to what a successful football team can do. If this is Alleva's plan than he really is a dumbass.

I get that - but the point is we're not going to win championships while Saban is coaching Bama, which is why they didn't go after a top tier head coach. I also still think they overpaid for Coach O and Canada, but I digress.

Not saying I fully agree with that thinking either - but just what I believe is happening.

While the goal is to always win championships, the real goal is to fill the stadium for each home game. Miles wasn't fired because he couldn't beat Saban, he was fired because he was losing to Ole Miss, Arky, and MSU. After Herman and Jimbo there was no clear cut top tier coach to go after.

So you are suggesting that Alleva is so scared of Saban, that he just said "frick it" and is intentionally tanking the football program? Really???

Alleva is a bad AD, sure, but your idea makes absolutely zero sense on any level.

You do know a school can have championship level teams in multiple sports, right? You don't ahve to choose basketball OR football.

Hell, just fairly recenlty Florida won titles in both sports in the same year. FFS, 2007 LSU won the BCS and the CWS.

So tell me again, why does Alleva have to choose one or the other?
