My theory is that there is a polar shift in priority being implemented by Joe Alleva, which has been sold to F. King. We are becoming a basketball school again, where football is second or third wheel.

So the one sport that generates the most money and funds the athletic department and part of the university is going to become second or third wheel? The plan is to sacrifice tens of millions of dollars to make a little bit more with basketball?

The beauty of his plan is that we continue to generate enough revenue in football to keep the athletic department stable, while growing our basketball program. This is partly why he hired Coach O - he's the likeable local guy, he knows people can't help but support him and the team.

Keep in mind - LSU will always have a HUGE support base, regardless of what you hear here. Myself, like many of you, are lifelong, diehard fans.

I know Alleva seems like a complete dumbass - and maybe I'm wrong, but I think he actually has a plan believe it or not.

First off, thank you for the intelligent response. It's refreshing.

Here's where I think we differ in opinion. If you only read the rant, you would think LSU is going to lose half of their current revenue each year. I don't even think it's going to be tens of millions.

Yes, the stands are going to be empty for a few weeks if we keep losing. But you know what happens then? A new wave of fans come in and fill the seats. LSU will always have a packed house, I don't care if we're middle of the pack, or top of the SEC.

I sincerely think Alleva sees maybe a 3-5 million loss in revenue WORSE CASE here, possibly even a break even from where we have been for the past 4-5 years. We haven't been very good since 2011, and are we really seeing a huge dropoff in revenue?

I think he sees this and is taking advantage of our loyal fanbase. Now he's making his move in the basketball space, trying to make us competitive again.
