That right there. That "should" is what I took issue with. It's easy to say those left behind should have picked up on something but lots of times the person with the problems is too ashamed to give any signals. It's a very, very sad thing for all involved. It's why those of us left behind, the "victims" if you will, of suicide feel so much guilt. It's because we, too, feel we should've picked up on things but reality is there never were clues in many of these situations. And we've beat ourselves up over it for years.

Thanks for the apology, appreciate it. I know you didn't mean to come across that way. Just felt like I had to say it though.

I had a friend from middle school through college who was a wonderful soul - funny and down to earth. I knew he and his dad had issues. One day while passing each other on campus, we sat and talked the longest we had in a while. The next morning I get a call that he shot himself. For years I wondered 'did I miss something'? That was 25 years ago and I still wonder
