Disc is probably sitting on a nerve. Anti-inflammatory will probably help some. The only true cure is surgery. Dealing with the same issue but L3. I believe the L5-S1 is exactly what Tiger Woods has been dealing with. He finally had to have fusion surgery to get relief

Not necessarily. Aggressive PT can help in some cases. A fusion is a brutal surgery so I would exhaust all other options if it were me.
