A lot of the laws have changed recently. My lawyer and her lawyer both told her that. Its not like that anymore unless you make an extreme amount of money, married for a really long time and the ex hasn't worked in years. My lawyer said her last client who had to pay permanent spousal was a brain surgeon married 20+ years and the wife never worked. Even with mine being part time when the final divorce comes it will be based on her potential income of working full time.

ETA: The reason why its full time is because both our kids are over 5. If the child is under 5 and your spouse doesn't work or is part time then you can't use that formula because they aren't in school yet and require all day care.
