Looks like he's at the "Anger " level of the "7 States".

imho,athletes livelihood depends on people liking them.The more people that like an athlete,then the more money they make.i.e. endorsements,contract,etc..

They're similar to Actors in wanting public adulation.

I think they are bothered by the public outcry against them.jmho

That really was a low point and it's faded into a distant memory.Players on Strike and the Owners bring in "Replacement Players".It was bad football.
