I was just reading that because coaches are working for publicly funded universities, them taking money makes it an FBI thing even before all the other stuff.


Still not sure it's the best use of FBI time, but it's interesting.

I was under the impression this all started with an SEC investigation into Marty Blazer, a financial advisor from Pittsburgh. As part of his plea, he agreed to turn the tables on these schools and Adidas, and it basically fell into the FBI's lap. They weren't actively looking to police college athletics, but considering the money involved, it's probably a worthwhile endeavor on their part.
