I have no personal knowledge. But anything that only holds a couple of hours battery when on LTE (allegedly) can't be classified as a stand alone device.

I didn’t get lte I got gps only because of battery drain concerns. One of the main benefits I saw was I could keep the watch on in the pool at home. So far this has been a pretty good feature where as the phone with Touch ID is a pain because water screws up recognition and I have to worry about dropping the phone which is only water resistant. I did plenty of research and after 24 hours have come to realize it’s real intent is that similar to a second monitor, a companion item. It’s very beneficial and you can see a lot but you don’t really interact all that often. As a fitness phone I haven’t tested but it’s growing on me overall.
