Best I can tell, you jump with hoops with the NBA to force him to be declared medically retired then you pray he can’t play in at least 10 games the next season.
If he never steps on the court again, we definitely remove the next two seasons of his contract from the books. Not sure what the effect is on the current season’s cap room.
Between his condition and the problems that but men are having getting signed right now, I don’t see him coming back even if he is miraculously cured, He’s a below average big man at a time when teams are getting smaller.

According to the rules, we can declare him medically retired if he doesn’t play another game before about April 12, which is one year after his last game played per ESPN game log.
At that point he can be waived under forced retirement.

Is there even a cure for Crohn's disease?
I've heard of drugs that help reduce symptoms, but not a cure, per se.
