I think it's because he's been there, done that, and got the t-shirt. I don't necessarily agree with that argument, but it's used all the time (i.e. this coach never played football, how can he tell me what to do).

villanueva isn't just a west point grad. he has a bronze star for valor, meaning his actions during combat literally saved lives. shameful for tomlin to go after him over this.
