This is an interesting comment in his quote. The Federal Government is restricted by the First Amendment, not state or private entities.
I am willing to give the team the benefit of the doubt. There was no inkling of a protest from these players when it was related to Kaepernick. Once the President interjected himself into the discussion, the fact that some of the players responded was not unexpected. Now the players and organizations are experiencing backlash from fans.
(Players stopped going to the White House under the previous administration as a form of protest. The media just chose to attack the player in those instances. )
It will be interesting to see if this continues next week in London. I would hope that the issues can be kept to our own country but I am not hopeful.
