Most rules involving balls going out of the end zone are stupid. They always seem to overly reward or punish one team. Combine a rare batted ball rule, and it really doesn't make sense.

Rules weren't written in anticipation a kicker would be able to haul arse down field and make a play in the opposite end zone after time had expired in the half.
