Trane/American Standard right now is top dog. They are also one of the most expensive. They also benefit from making sure their installers are decently competent.

One reason Goodman gets a bad rap is they allow anyone to buy their equipment. That leads to a lot of shite installs and subsequently a higher rate of problems. They still are on the lower end of the quality spectrum but aren't as bad as some people make out.

I believe there is a lot to this, so if you don’t know your installer, probably best to avoid Goodman, particularly if you are basing your decision on competitive bid prices. Just my opinion. But the flip side of that is cost. If you can get a Goodman for half the price and they currently have an exceptional warranty and you’re willing to risk the inconvenience of a failing system in the middle of the summer, that may not be a bad choice for you.

Interestingly, last time a price dunits (long time ago) Carrier and Bryant were far and away the most expensive.
