Not setting up two households or not leaving your child in someone else's care does not equal being a shitty parent. A good parent could go either way depending on circumstance.

If they have no other solution then of course. If they have the financial capability then it should be done. I mean more so the parents should sacrifice seeing each other everyday(being in different cities) for one year of the child's life(an important year at that). Even if it was jr and sr year I'd fell differently. It's just two semesters we are talking about here.
