I'm not sure "ultimate liberal" is the right description, but to say he would have turned away refugees is laughable. The pope is doing the same thing. He wants to help people in terrible situations. That's not promoting Marxism or Communism. That's being a fricking Catholic. Of course the pope is going to say countries should be willing to take in refugees.
