It's possible - Sharpton was born in 1954. I'm younger than he is and my great grandfather was born in the 1870s.
1864 is 153 years ago. Particularly a male who can have children older - say a man born in 1864 fathers a child in 1904, at 40 years of age. Outside chance that child born in 1904 could be living (or passed within the past 4 or 5 years). And certainly could have living grandchildren born in the 1950s and 1960s.
So, not far-fetched, although I have not researched Sharpton's specific claim.
