Pretty much, yes.
I was told in my concealed carry class that if I ever used my weapon, I can pretty much bet on being charged, and that I had better hope it's found that someone's life was in imminent danger, or it would mean prison. Of course, my state has no castle law, or the like. I can't use my pistol to stop a robbery, someone fleeing a crime, etc.
I applaud what this kid did, but making a hero of him would have idiots thinking they are justified in killing someone when the situation is entirely different.
