All I want is regional youth academies. Iceland has shown that in an efficient system, you don't need a large population. You need coaching, access to grounds, and equipment. The regional idea works for the US, and I think it makes so much sense that it will surely never be enacted.

Based on what I understand about the US Soccer development facility in KC that is currently under construction, this concept is being taken semi-seriously. If they could replicate this with the assistance of other MLS clubs, I think we'll start seeing a more cohesive youth development program operated by US Soccer.
