Serotonin is the chemical neurotransmitter in your brain which makes you feel at ease.
For folks who have low serotonin, getting drunk depletes the serotonin stores on the 'good feelings' associated with being drunk. When you sober up, there is not enough serotonin left.
It takes a couple of day for these neurotransmitters to build back up. Until they build back up, you feel like you're watching your team attempt a potential game-winning field goal with 1 second left in the championship game...and you feel like this constantly.
