I highly doubt LF's play in the books is to marry Sansa and get the Iron Throne. He has no shot at the later. As Varys put it in earlier seasons, LF would see this country burn to be king of the ashes. All LF wants in the books is for the highborn system to fall and only in the end for them to realize he outsmarted them all. He's not motivated by power in the books but by vengeance.

What is he trying to avenge? Being lowborn?
