Saw it last night at an advance screening. Loved it. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson have great chemistry. It really filled a niche for action comedies that has been empty since Lethal Weapon faded away.
Don't get me wrong - they basically play themselves, but that's what makes it so damned funny.

I believe you.
And the trailer pretty much states that..
But does it have a "red" "smoking aces" " John wick" kinda feel?
Is it close quarter Jason bourn fighting?

Saw it Tuesday, loved it. Reynolds and Jackson compliment each other well.

So SLJ is an over aggressive loudmouth and RR is a passive aggressive snarky smartass the whole time?
Im down.

If you look at the late 80's and early 90's during the Action Comedy run nearly every damn one was written by Shane Black who was a master at it, His directing has been good except for Iron man 3.
But there have been a few action comedies that have been good since that run
Both Jump Streets
The other guys
The nice guys (shane black again)
Hot Fuzz
Both Bad Boys

You make a fair point. I've seen all of those movies except The Nice Guys, and enjoyed all of them.
I didn't realize that Shane Black was the common thread to those.

you forget Rush Hour
Fair point.
few others I missed
The Rundown
Kingsman
Red
Although I don't think the genre is lacking I will say it isn't as prominent as it was in the 80's and 90's. Mostly this is because of Comic Book movies which have a few action comedy gems in the genre but are still considered Comic Book movies first.

I need to see Kingsman and both Red movies. I've heard good things about them.

Don't forget Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Also a Shane Black movie. And his best one.

Action comedy. Similar in tone to the other movies named in the thread.

agreed on both. It looks more like Iron man 3 was the outlier on Shane Black's directing career which gives me hope for the predator reboot.
