You could launch at Manchac Pass and be right near Sun Buns and Middendorfs. A short boat ride to Tickfaw River for Prop Stop, Tin Lizzys, Boopalu's.
There is also a sand bar in Lake Maurepas right outside the mouth of the Tickfaw river that people anchor out and swim regularly

Thanks. I've been to the prop stop, but never noticed a sand bar on the way there. Also are any of those places you mentioned on the water ok for young kids?
