If they aren't quotas, they don't English good.
Why do you say that? What do you take issue with here:
quote:

Vision: Through our collective work, advanced classes such as AP and Honors will have proportional representation,” read the letter. “Proportional representation is 40% White, 35% Hispanic, 12% African American, 10% mixed race.
That's consistent with the purpose of a VISION statement.

Vision Statement Definition
quote:

An aspirational description of what an organization would like to achieve or accomplish in the mid-term or long-term future. It is intended to serves as a clear guide for choosing current and future courses of action.

And here are some of vision statements from major companies that use similar language:

Sample Vision Statements

Pfizer
quote:

We will become the world's most valued company to patients, customers, colleagues, investors, business partners, and the communities where we work and live.
Honda (1970)
quote:

We will destroy Yamaha
Clearly "destroying" Yamaha could not have been a rule or regulation, since it's an independent company. But if you interpreted that statement like the one in the OP's article, then it must be a specific policy.

How about this take.... because their vision should be color blind? Like we are preached we are required to be daily.

The sheer fact that it is important to them to make sure races are equally represented is the actual issue.

The school's job is to teach INDIVIDUAL students to the absolute best of their ability, right? So you don't see how these two train of thoughts are opposites?

"Desiring a vision" of proportional representation of population percent to AP classes by race is --- NOT THE SAME -- as making sure each student has the best opportunity to learn.

A standard should be set - make it, your in, don't make it, your not in. Wow, complex I know.

How are they planning to achieve this vision? Will they be using race bonus and penalty points like the ACT/SAT etc? That is certainly beneficial to ALL STUDENTS!
