2002 Outback wagon here (owned since 2004 with 18k on the clock). Other than the head gasket on the 2.5, not a single other issue other than wear and tear. Still going strong at 193k miles and will be handing it down to my sons in a couple of years.
My brother owns a Crosstrek and loves it. My neighbors have one also. Keep in mind that I live in the land of Subarus ;)
