I will say that if you step into the big, straight shaft trimmers, they are absolutely going to be heavier than the homeowner's versions. they generally come with a harness or sling though, so you don't have to hold any weight with your arms. I actually find it easier to run a larger unit with a sling than a smaller curved shaft unit without.
