The original "street meat" next to the Hilton in NYC was awesome. Then again, I've never had it sober. I think it's like the "Johnnys pizza, buds broiler, Darrell's poboy" effect is in play here. A combination of timing, location, and nostalgia that can't be replicated with a franchise.

Bingo!!!

I thought it was the best thing ever when I got the chicken and rice plate straight from the cart at 2:30am on my first trip ever to NYC.

I've had it here in Houston,,sober, and it's good, but it doesn't and can't match the original experience.
