NEW YORK — Much like Huddersfield Town and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, the Chuck Blazer Memorial All-Stars have proven they have championship quality in the first two weekends of the season.

The All-Stars edged LSC Angry Boys for their second win in two matches this weekend behind another clutch performance from captain Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium international scored his third goal of the young season to move past an Angry Boys side that was strong in midfield but was let down by its attack and a red card to Kyle Walker.

"Once we got the man advantage late, we knew we were in a good spot," manager Freddy Adu said. "Good spots like that are rare for me, so we decided to make the Angry Boys chase the game after the decision."

It was enough for the Chuck Cats to hold onto the victory, which included strong performances from midfielders Matt Phillips and Elias Kachunga. Antonio Valencia turned in another top-level game at the back.

Adu went with Heurelho Gomes in goal despite Lukasz Fabianski's stellar effort in Round 1. The move paid off, and the man between the sticks outperformed a lackluster group of Angry Boys forwards.

"I thought the gaffer was joking when he said I was starting today," Gomes said. "But how could I question the decision-making of a legend like Freddy Adu?"

Raheem Sterling's late goal and Christian Eriksen's midfield magic gave the Angry Boys some hope, but the Chuck Cats held them off down the stretch.

This weekend, Adu's squad will host 99 Problems, but their pitch ain't one. The match will be the third of 36 straight home matches for the Chuck Blazer Memorial All-Stars.

"Money talks," Adu said, holding the schedule up proudly. "First team listed in every match. We'll either finish first or be the first to get relegated for match-fixing."

Editor's note: The Chuck Blazer Memorial All-Stars will travel to Dad Hat Wearing SEC Post-Frat FC in weeks 6, 15, 24, and 33. That derby is already shaping up to be the top fixtures of the year (with pre and post-match coverage from Jamie and Jamie - another SCH favorite).

Off the record: Dad Hat Wearing SEC Post-Frat FC is the Qatar of this league as they have secured all 36 matches at home. However, the Chuck Cats are a model club in bribery that would make that Blazer proud as he secured 32/36 at his home grounds run amuk by cats.
