FWIW, I've switched completely over to RDL's.
Made the change at 34 after doing a linear prog program for years and knowing I'll never DL more than I already had. Saw plenty of 30+ lifters with herniations to not see the light.
The way I view deadlifts is more like the Westside school, the squat builds strength and the DL tests it. The DL is all about challenging position, and the fight isn't as much with the weight, it's about holding position.
My best guess is that you overextended during those touch and go reps. I bet your psoas are tender as hell.
