what formula is it to update a cell with a new value?

say I have the amount $11.00 in cell G49, then 11.49 in cell H49, so I want G49 to update to 11.49.

I can't just cut and paste unless I do each row manually.

I think I figured this part out. it's not possible
I'm joining D49 and E49 in F49

but I need the text from E49 to be red.

is this possible or do I have to do it all manually?

thanks in advance!

eta figured out the spacing problem

Why not make G49 "=H49"

Because some of the cells won't have a value? not sure

maybe that will work if I sort out the blank ones.

I'm trying to show pay raises

It will return a blank value.

If you want something else you need an if formula that checks if the cell is empty and with your yes as whatever you need it to say and your no as the value of the neighboring cell.

ETA:

Conditional formatting It's similar to if statements but it only checks if they're true and if it is changes the format.

Do just the first cell in that column and follow the steps. For example your formula for H49 will be =G49<>"". After that you can just grab the drag tool in the bottom right corner and apply it to all cells in the column. FYI, if you select the cell instead of typing in the cell number it will add $ before the row and column numbers which will frick up the formatting for the rest of the cells.
