The Emu War was fought in 1932 between the Australian military and actual emus. An unorthodox attempt to use the military to cull the emu population, which was a major nuisance to farmers, the war must be considered an avian victory. The birds proved far too elusive for the military to effectively engage, with the Australian OIC praising their maneuverability and resilience in his official after-action report, although he was able to (thankfully, seriously, and hilariously) report no casualties on the human side.
