To me any south Colorado trip should include Telluride. Camping there would be an option for sure. There are some awesome 4x4 trails, easy to moderate hikes, waterfalls, shopping and eating in town, and plenty of other stuff. One of the best mountain towns you will find anywhere

While it could be too cold to camp there, don't drive past the Black Canyon without at least spending half a day there.
