I sincerely think that if state politicians could figure out a way to physically move highway infrastructure from Baton Rouge to New Orleans, they would.

The few nickels the state has does not get spent in Baton Rouge. It's absurd that I-10 retains the same decking, lighting, width, and guardrails as it did 60 years ago or that Airline Highway is still only 4 lanes in most of EBR.
