My family had NEZ season tickets. In 1979, after LSU played the final home game, my dad and I walked down to field level with my friend. I was 9, he was 12. Somehow my Dad convinced the policeman to let me and my friend walk on the field and into the end zone. The seniors came out to take last pictures on the field and invited us to join them at mid field. I got a piggy back ride from one of the players from mid field back to the NEZ. I was hooked on LSU football already, but that sealed it.

In a twist of irony, my then 13 year old son had an emergency appendectomy 3 days before the 2012 BCS championship. We watched that game from Children's Hospital in NO. He was so mad that he made me turn it off in the 4th. I took him to the 2012 regular season game v Bama and he was furious afterwards. First time I heard him use the F word. Now, he is a student at University of Alabama.
