I don't see the problem. Design is needed for things to be functional. Art doesn't just refer to some guy painting in a studio. Entertainment is a multibillion dollar industry. CGI needs artists. Computer programs need UI artists. Web sites need design. Businesses need logos and branding.

Most things that are made need some level of design aesthetic to help them sell better than competing products.

Good point.

I know this is more specific to lines of getting into certain fields but even art at it's base isn't a bad thing. Being a kid/teenager isn't always easy so simply expressing themselves thru art isn't bad either imo.

The problem is the STEM acronym was created to add focus to the hard sciences. Adding the one thing that is not like the others renders the differentiation useless.

Give me a break. Stop making excuses.

Also the issue with STEM was also to encourage people to not stigmitize it as nerdy and to increase diversity. Many different demographic groups were just writing off those field based off of perception.

So adding the Arts into it is about as dumb as it can be. It also isn't related to the other fields.

Rembrandt would have been a piss poor programmer.
