I wish more color guys actually provided color. Tell cool stories, make the game more personal. I know that's not what's in vogue, but I think the reason a lot of all ballcasters are revered, like a Vin Scully, was their ability to tell a story.
Collinsworth is the best analyst in the biz, but I do love Blackledge because he makes an effort to give analysis and be a storyteller. He's the closest thing to a classic color commentator we have.
Honestly, my favorite is Razor Reaugh for hockey. He can do play-by-play, give good analysis, and also tell funny stories and make the broadcast pop. He's enjoyable even when the game isn't.
