I hate the Asik contract, but Demps has a very nice core in Davis, Cousins, and Holiday.
The NBA is about stars and those three guys put the Pels in the top third of the league from the start. Most teams either don't have stars and flexibility or they have stars and don't have flexibility. Thebgoal right now is to just find role players.
Everyone in this thread just acts like it is super easy when in reality everyone is so far behind the Warriors it isn't funny. The Warriors are just lucky Curry was hurt during his contract year, the cap expanded, and Durant is willing to drastically undermine the integrity of the league salary structure.
The current Pels core would seem a lot more like contenders if the conferences were balanced and the Warriors didn't have all that luck extending their run. Davis and Cousins are the two best big men in the league (excluding Lebron James from consideration). Holiday is one of the best all around combo guards in the league.

they drafted a generational talent 5 years ago through sheer luck.
that alone put them ahead of about 20 teams in the league. all they have to show for those 5 years is one season above 34 wins, a 1st round sweep, and a capped out team that is around 50/50 to go above .500 this season with those three guys.
