Shaving & waxing injures follicles, making it easier for infections to get into your skin.

The hair acts as a barrier, protecting you from those bacteria and viruses entering the body. As another poster mentioned, shaving can lead to skin irritation and damage.

The only possible health benefit that I have seen is- no pubic lice. Every other benefit is aesthetic. Not arguing that it's not worth the risk. It just always amazes me that people think it's a practice that improves their health.
