ETA: IMO it would be unethical if the company asked him to take on more and he said that he didn't have any time to do more. But under his current circumstances, I don't see a problem.



Exactly, the company is paying him to perform a specific task. Why is it unethical that he found a way to reduce that time frame to a fraction of what it takes others.

Take care of you first. A company will fire you the first chance they get. You are doing the job you are paid to do. Nothing else matters.
