What jobs are not automated?
No seriously, that's just how some things are.
I worked on a project in which all I did was go through a bunch of Instrumental P&IDs, circle all the parts on the drawings that connect so that I could then go into a database to make sure the drawings and database had the same information, if not, I had to select + or -. I did that shite every day for about 14 months.
I'd get a stack.. I'd say on average, was about 10" and I would grab a drawing, circle the areas I had to check, match it up in database, make changes if necessary, then repeat. There were times when I would have 3 or 4 stacks on my desk. It was the most mindless work I ever did. There were times when I would finish a day or two before they brought me more and since I was charging to that project, I couldn't do anything on other projects, if someone needed help so I would have a day or two... Sometimes even more, when I would go to work and have absolutely nothing to do.
On another project, my job was to build a database. There was a certain goal that had to be met and I had to take the information given to me to customize the database once I created it, as much that went into the first part of it, it got to the point where everything was created to do what was needed so after that it was just getting the data, plugging it in and then spit out reports, but I would think to some degree this will happen to a lot of people.
