I agree using adult language in a mixed crowd (a crowd you're not familiar with) is poor form because you're potentially going to get this reaction, but the one responsible for the reaction is the one reacting, after all. One person is simply using words...the other is deciding to escalate to violence to prevent words from being spoken.
You want to use your OWN words to let them know you don;t like the way they're speaking? Sure! That's how we do things! The minute you decide to hit someone or threaten them to stop talking in a way you don;t like, then you've crossed the line.
We see it all the time in regard to politics, from both sides. Some assclown wants to burn a flag? frick that...go kick his arse and stop him! Some visiting professor or writer wants to talk on campus and we don't like it? frick that...go kick his arse and prevent him from speaking! Ridiculous.
Words...just words, folks.
