Fans nowadays (and not just millenials) want to be entertained, and young kids who play want to actually move around and do something. Too much standing around in baseball - it's just the nature of the sport.

A good personal example - I live it Atlanta and am 53, and none of my friends care much about baseball. We loosely follow the Braves because it's summer and nothing else is happening, but once football season starts, there's literally zero talk about baseball. ZERO.

Which is ironic because football is the definition of waiting for somehting to happen. 10 seconds of action followed by a minute or more of standing around. Rinse and repeat. And I love football. But nonstop action it is not.

I didn't say "non-stop" action, just more action.

Huge difference with football is that, although there's a break between plays, with the no huddle concept today, teams are at the line quicker and running many more plays than decades ago. And the rules have been tweaked to allow more passing, more offense, and more scoring.

Plus, let's be honest, one football play has 22 guys flying around the field and colliding. And every play (usually) is different, and usually (unless it's a Mile/Cam offense) we don't know what type of play is coming.

Baseball is one guy standing in the same place, throwing to a guy crouching in the same place. And a large majority of the time, the batter doesn't put the ball in play.

I realize I'm in a baseball thread with baseball fans, but please, it's pretty hard to deny that baseball doesn't actually have much action. It just doesn't.
