You played this hand in a non-optimal way. You should have told your wife you expect her to consult you on this type of stuff first, and that you were really looking forward to your vacation, but it's fine. Then you could have used this situation to your great benefit and your wife would not be upset.

You could have golfed everyday, got drunk, and expected your wife to pick you up and she would have had to do it with a smile on her face.
