not a bad question and great premise for a thread. I for one think that abortion is tragic, and sad, and a horrible thing (I consider it killing a human being- in some cases the same as murder if you will). That said, I can see it as justified in certain circumstances (rape chiefly among them along with situations where the mother's life is in danger), and thus don't think there should be a blanket prohibition on it. The decision, though extremely difficult, should be that of the parent (mother) or parents. So, while I'm decidedly "anti-abortion", I do not support overturning Roe vs Wade.....

This is a very interesting line of thinking to me, sociologically. I too find abortion to be abhorrent as an actual practice, though I would more strongly argue for a woman's right to choose. I don't really feel like there are many who would argue "yay, abortion, the more the better," it's generally viewed as unpleasant at best. Yet, we end up in the same place in the debate.
So my follow up question is, should this issue still be so dominant in conservative politics? Would their constituents actually want to overturn it?

Aren't less than 1% of all abortions done due to it being life threatening? Rape is a tough one I must say. Is there a drug administered to prevent fertilization when someone is raped and taken to the hospital? I personally dont agree with abortion nor do I feel like the government should fund it.

You can't believe it's murder and think this is ok. Every child conceived is a child of God. Giving up this child for adoption should be the alternative choice.

Very well put. This sums up my thoughts.
