Breaking it down to the different industries -

Music - Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna.

Movies - Harrison Ford, Molly Ringwald, John Hughes

Sports - Hulk Hogan, Mike Tyson, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird

TV - Bill Cosby, Michael J Fox(lot of movie crossover), Phil Donahue, Eddie Murphy(lot of movie crossover as well, but saved SNL)

Michael Jackson was king of them all. Nobody else was even close.

A very solid list... imo the 80's were the best decade ever... I would add Clint Eastwood to the movie catagory... everything he tried turned to gold....

But I agree Micheal Jackson is on a different level than everybody else... it started at the Motown 25th anniversary brodcast.... the whole Jackson clan was on stage and finished a song, all left the stage except for Micheal... his Bills Jean performance that night propelled him from pop star to mega star.....
